A few facts
The airport in Budapest is Liszt Ferenc Airport, about 30 minutes from downtown. We have two main railway stations: Nyugati pályaudvar/railway station and Keleti pályaudvar/railway station where you can arrive from other European cities.
Our club was founded in 1990. There are two other Clubs in Hungary, one in Székesfehérvár, the other in Pécs. Since the foundation we had hosted International events as well as participated in the work of the European Committee earlier.
We have a regular club life: we meet every month with a special programme adjusted to the season of the year, where we also discuss the important issues of the actual hosting or travelling. We also have club excursions twice a year: in the spring and in the autumn within our beautiful country, or a region nearby. We enjoy hosting the Ambassadors of FFI, offering a programme to discover our capital, Budapest and excursion places nearby, just as well as our cultural heritage and our famous gastronomy and wines! Most of the time longer excursions are adjusted to the visitors’ interests thru a mutual coordination procedure. Among the excursions we take our guests to Szentendre (a small Serbian town in the Danube –curve), to Visegrád, which was the siege of our major medieval king Matthias, to the Royal Palace of Gödöllő (the summer residence of the Empress Sissy), sometimes to Lake Balaton, to the Pannonhalma Monastery, to a horse show just to mention a few programmes. But since Budapest is the city of thermal spas, we normally have a “rejuvenating” bath programme for those who are interested.
Our “Welcome” and “Farewell” parties are very popular, where we are dancing, enjoying ourselves and the very impressive Budapest panorama at the same time. But of course one week is very short to show many things, thus we can help to arrange to extend the stay in the countryside. We enjoy “Stop Over” programmes too, for most of our members are still active workers and we can cope better with shorter visits.
